Overview
Founded in 2011, Jane.com was an e-commerce marketplace that aimed to highlight small, women-owned businesses. The platform featured more than 2000 small businesses and had over 5 million monthly users.
As a Product Design Intern, and then a Product Designer, I worked within the cross-functional Product Team to provide the best digital experience to users. Throughout my time with the company, I was able to execute the end-to-end product design process, from discovery work, to user interface design, user experience deliverables, and published development of my designs.
Role: Product Design Intern, Product Designer
Duration: 7 Months
Skills: User Research, Iterative Prototyping, Responsive Design, Visual Design, Website Development
Tools: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, HubSpot, HTML & CSS
At the beginning of my internship, I collaborated with the Senior User Researcher to analyze Jane.com's collection of user data. This data, focusing on the two distinct groups of buyers and sellers, allowed me to craft five user personas. Two of the final deliverables are shown below.
Based on an internal need to visualize the platform, I modeled the site architecture of Jane.com's entire digital ecosystem and delivered this graphic.
Throughout all of my design work at Jane.com, I maintained consistency utilizing the company's design system. The design system I followed can be found here.
Taking information from a Lucidchart diagram and adding several metrics, this customer journey map displays the key points more effectively and provides a more holistic view of a user's experience with Jane.com. A portion of this map is shown below.
Following the design of several recurring content blocks on Jane.com, I created templates to maintain consistency for future designs. I used Figma and its auto-layout feature to create these wireframes. Two are shown below.
Two prototypes, the Terms and Conditions page and the About Us page, are shown below. I crafted the Terms and Conditions page to be a more user-friendly and design system-compliant page than the current. The About Us page utilized the content block templates that I had previously made. Both mockups adhere to vertical and horizontal standardized grid spacing.
For the Seller Profile page mockup, I practiced mobile-first prototyping, used Figma's auto-layout feature, and followed Jane.com's design system.
Sell.jane.com was a platform that catered to the 2000+ sellers of Jane.com. In collaboration with other Product Designers and the Senior Product Manager, I designed interfaces for this platform after the company decided to move the content from one CMS to another. I crafted the new designs of this content to have the signature Jane.com branding and user experience. Throughout the process of redesigning this content, I practiced iterative design and responsive web design.
After I designed the sell.jane.com platform, I developed my designs in HubSpot, implementing custom HTML and CSS to adhere to my design specs.
